Life Legacy


LuDene Ward Loudy, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Turtle and Crane in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

She was born December 12, 1929, in Salem, Idaho, to Charles Ward and Gertrude Elizabeth Stallings Ward. She attended Sugar Salem High School and received her GED. She later received a certificate from LDS Business College after completing the business program.

She married Howard Henry Smith. They were later divorced. She married Clyde Maxwell Loudy, in Teton, Idaho, on August 29, 1972. He died January 10, 1992.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved and supported missionary work in every way.

LuDene loved to sew, quilt and crochet; she also loved to bake, cook and can. She enjoyed making candy and chocolate. She was known for her bread, cinnamon rolls, lemon meringue pie, and carrot pudding.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She was a kind and loving person, helping her loved ones all of the time.

She is survived by the following:

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Maxwell Loudy; son, Harlan H. Smith; grandson, Rick Dale Smith; granddaughter, Roxanne Marie Smith; her parents, Charles and Gertrude Elizabeth Ward; sister, Lila Covington; brother-in-law, Joe Covington; brother, Byron Ward; sister-in-law, Norma Ward; brother-in-law, Ralph Pocock.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the LDS Chapel at the corner of Sunnyside and Holmes with Bishop John Laird conducting. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6-7:30 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, in Idaho Falls and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Teton-Newdale Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Dr. Bradley Stoddard and his staff, the staff at Turtle and Crane, and Hospice of Eastern Idaho for the loving care given to their mother.
