Marjorie Anderson Ivie, a young, healthy, and witty 94 year old, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of heart failure.
She was born April 26, 1913, in Samaria (near Malad), Idaho, to Sophia Morse and Peter Anderson. She was raised in Star Valley, but she attended schools in Wyoming, Idaho Falls, and Boise.
In 1933, she married and later divorced. She had two sons. In 1939, she married her life long companion, Edwin Ivie. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived on their dairy farm in Etna for 34 years where they raised five lovely daughters. They sold the farm in 1974 and moved to Idaho Falls on Davidson Drive. Following Edwin’s died in 1988, Marjorie moved into the Wackerli apartments.
Besides being a mother and farmers wife, Marjorie was a renowned cook at the Flying Saddle Lodge in Alpine, Wyoming. Her excellent meals and recipes were her trademark which brought everyone to her welcome and generous door.
The long winters in Wyoming were warmed with fun family games and snowmobile outings with friends.
Marjorie was always a quilter but after moving to Idaho Falls, quilting became her ardent hobby and specialty. Her quilts at the family reunions were the star attraction and to win one was indeed a treasure.
She is survived by the following: son, Gary (Carolyn) Thomson of American Falls; son, Monty (Donna) Hobson of Boise; daughter, Judi Dodson (Dave Hubert) of Eugene, Oregon; daughters: Beth Roszell, Paula (Merlin) Ricks, and Linda Sanders all of Idaho Falls; 27 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Sara Freeman and Ruth Haderlie both of Logan, UT.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin;a daughter, Ginger; siblings: Shirley Langston, Peter Anderson, Mary Lott, Vera Roberts, and Lee Hawkins.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2007, at the Idaho Falls North Stake Center, 955 Memorial Drive. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2007, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, in Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Etna Wyoming Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
