An elect lady, Ada Marlene Oliverson Terry, 70, a former resident of Ammon, Idaho, passed away peacefully November 16, 2013, at her home in Meridian, Idaho. Having come from a faithful and courageous pioneer family, Marlene was born on September 7, 1943, in Preston, Idaho, to James Kelly Oliverson and Hattie Egley Oliverson. She was married to her beloved sweetheart, Verl O. Terry on June 15, 1962. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Marlene took her marriage vows very seriously. Marlene's home and gardens were gorgeous, spotless, and well admired. She was an accomplished crafter and seamstress and tailored many items of clothing for her children and grandchildren; including costumes celebrating festive holiday activities. She was committed to the Gospel and served faithfully in many church callings; including President of the Relief Society, Young Women's and Primary organizations. She was a talented teacher and a gifted speaker. At the time of her death, Marlene and Verl had recently been called to serve as missionaries at the Idaho State Prison. She was the editor of the Shelley Pioneer newspaper for about ten years. Marlene was blessed as a skillful observer of life's humorous and touching moments that she encountered in her daily routine. After moving to Meridian, Marlene used her skill as a creative writer to pen the newspaper column "Front Porch" in which she acquired the pen-name of "Ida Chatter" for the Idaho Press Tribune in Nampa, Idaho. She was currently engaged in writing daily on her blogspot (www.marleneterry.blogspot.com) and her facebook page (In a Nutshell) in which her greatest joy was sharing and receiving comments from her fans! There are many things Marlene will be remembered for including her deep love for her Savior, her devoted husband, children and most especially, her grandchildren. Marlene's concern and daily acts of charity toward others was heart-felt and genuine. She is survived by her devoted husband, Verl O. Terry of Meridian; Children: Angela Terry of Poulsbo, Washington; Lora Terry of Meridian; James of San Francisco, California; Gina (Thomas) Waite, Michael and Richard (Iolanda) all of Idaho Falls; Ryan of Meridian and Mary (Benjamin) Hazlett of Ontario, Oregon; grandchildren: Savahnna Terry, Jordan and Paris Waite, Gabriel and Andrew Terry, Benson and Nicole Hazlett; a sister, Alania Cook and a brother-in-law, Stan Gilgen both of Idaho Falls.
