Al Little of Idaho Falls died unexpectedly at the age of 79 in his home on Thursday, June 2, 2016. The doctors feel his death was due to natural causes, but those who knew him feel it was from a broken heart. Less than three weeks before his passing, Al buried his dear wife of 44 years.

Al was the second of four children born to Albert Little and Tessie Downs on August 1, 1936.  Al was born and raised in Ogden, Utah. He attended Ogden High School where he was active in sports and part of a men's singing group. He spent time hunting, fishing, and competing in various events in the rodeo. Later he did chariot horse racing.

From a previous marriage, Al had three children: Kim Little, Karla Little (Gary) Spjut, and Troy (Holly) Little. Later, he married Dorothy Bailey on October 20, 1971, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Dorothy had three daughters: Charisse Arnold (Scott) Smith, Cindy Arnold (Brent) Strong, and Chris Arnold (Mark) Evans. Al treated them as if they were his own.

Al was a very hard worker and was a successful businessman. He played an integral part of building and maintaining a thriving fertilizer business. He cultivated many lifelong friendships through his business.

Al and Dorothy built a cabin in Island Park where they spent many happy days fishing, boating, snowmobiling, dancing Saturday nights at Pond's lodge, and visiting with friends.

Al was a larger than life character with a tall stance and an even bigger personality. He always had a good story to tell and a captive audience to listen.  Al had a tremendous work ethic. Even from a young age, he always maintained a job and was continuously engaged in a project. Al was also known for his incredible generosity towards others. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, he will be sorely missed by many.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, wife; older sister, Beatrice "Babe" Little Mannix; younger brother, Warren "Buck" Little; and a grandson, Jake Smith.

He is survived by his sister, Donna Little (Bill) Schaap; six children, 15 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at Pineview Cemetery in Ashton, Idaho.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made in Al's name to the Teton Cancer Institute at 1975 East 17th Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83404. Funds donated will pay for patient treatment.
