Obituary

Albert Archie Kindred, 82, of Idaho Falls, died Friday, November 4, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center due to complications of a fall. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.

Albert was born on January 31, 1935, in Roberts, Idaho to Roscoe Faye Kindred and Elsie Aileen Burkey Kindred. He, along with his brothers, Don and Lloyd, grew up and attended school in Salmon, Leadore and Butte, Montana. He graduated from Butte High School.

While living in Deer Lodge, Montana, he was introduced to a young woman that he ended up going through life with by his friend Bobby Overton. That young woman was Betty June Overton of Glasgow, Montana. To this union, he and Betty were blessed with five children: Robert, Curtis, Joe, Julie and Lisa. Later, Valerie joined the family.

During his career in the mining industry, Albert worked in open pit and underground mining. He followed the jobs to many locations, taking his family with him. They lived in Montana, Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado. This gave the children a unique experience and education. After years of following the mining jobs, they returned to the family homestead in Terreton, Idaho. The family settled in, and Albert continued to follow mining jobs. He was one of many that worked on the construction crew of the Teton Dam.

Albert enjoyed fishing and camping with friends and family and was a ruthless pinochle player. He enjoyed many years of prospecting and panning for gold. Albert was very interested in politics and would share his point of view with anyone that would listen. He enjoyed spending time with his adult children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In recent years, he spent a lot of time with his son, Joe, traveling to Opportunity and Belgrade, Montana. Joe helped him explore mining claims, panning for gold, and working with Albert on his properties in Montana. Albert was very social and treated everyone the same, not judging to a fault. He was a hard-working man that was not afraid to embrace life.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Roscoe and Elsie; his older brother, Don; and Betty, the mother of his children.

He is survived by his younger brother, Lloyd Kindred of Idaho Falls, Idaho; his six adult children: Robert Kindred, Curtis Kindred, Joe Kindred, Julie Bedwell, Lisa Davidson and Valerie Kindred; 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held from 12:00-3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017, at The Stockman's Restaurant at Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls. Family and friends are invited to share stories in his honor.
