She was born July 17, 1987, in Queretaro, Mexico, to Santos and Patricia Ortega. She was born with severe Athetoid Cerebral Palsy. She grew up in Idaho Falls and attended the Child Development Center, Temple View and Falls Valley Elementary schools, Rocky Mountain Middle school and Bonneville High School where she graduated in 2008.
She was a member of the Idaho Falls Catholic Community.
Alejandra loved Dora the Explorer, watching Novelas, shopping at the mall, talking and laughing with her friends and her teachers at school whom she loved very much.
A special thank you to the staff and employees of District 93 and the Learning Center for the years of loving service provided to Alex.
She is survived by the following: parents, Santos and Patricia Artega; sisters, Nancy and Liliana; a brother, Andy; all of Idaho Falls; a grandfather, Sacarias Guerrero of Mexico; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Eugenio Ortega, Fortunata de la Cruz, and Agustina Garcia.
A Rosary will be said from 7-7:30 Friday evening February 6, 2009, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. Following the Rosary, the family will visit with friends from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at the mortuary and Saturday at the church one hour prior to Mass. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2009, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 9th and Lee in Idaho Falls with Father Carlos Camargo officiating. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
Donations are being accepted to help the family with funeral expenses and may be made at any Bank of Commerce in Alejandra Ortega's name.
