Alene Mcbride
Hill

Alene McBride Hill was born in Provo, Utah on December 23, 1930, to Garnel Joseph and Elda Roylance McBride. She later moved with her family to Goshen, Idaho, Parker, Idaho and Osgood, Idaho. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School at the age of 16.
She met Vernon Hill at a stake dance. He fell in love with her long, brown hair. He thought she was older than her 16 years. Since she had already graduated from high school. Alene and Vernon were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on November 17, 1948. She was a young bride of 17, They made their home and their lives in Ucon, Idaho. There they raised 5 children.
She worked as the clerk for the Village of Ucon until the position was moved to the city hall. She wanted to be home with her children so she quit that job. She also worked as an election official for many years. One of the things Alene enjoyed doing was making mints for wedding receptions. Then she learned how to make chocolates and made those for several years. After Vernon retired they decided to turn her love of candy making into a home business. They turned their basement into a candy shop and "Alene's Chocolates" was born. Alene and Vernon worked together for the next 30 years sweetening many people's lives. They gained many cherished friendships from this endeavor. They retired officially in 2013 at the ages of 82 and 87. They continued to help and have been a great support.
Alene was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings throughout her life and up until her final month. Alene and Vernon served 5 missions together: Davao, Philippines; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Nauvoo, Illinois; Roseville, California; and Honolulu, Hawaii. They made many dear friends through their services. She was valiant in her testimony of Jesus Christ and was a true disciple.
She was a wonderful mother and cherished that role. She loved being a grandmother and her grandchildren loved her dearly. She was a great influence on many people—All who knew her loved her.
Alene passed away after a long, well-lived life on September 18, 2017, at the age of 86.
She is survived by her loving husband, Vernon; her children, whom she adored: Cathy (Bob) McBride, Nancy (Gaylen) Long, Jim (Kris) Hill, Sid (Becky) Hill and Judy (Bob) Kinghorn; 27 grandchildren who adored her and 55 great-grandchildren; her brothers: Roy (Blanche) McBride, Don (Sharon) McBride, Paul (Tari) McBride; her sisters: Sharlene (Russell) Billings, Leila (Alan) Wilkins, and Garnalee (Tom) Harrington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Calvin (Rayola) McBride and Robert (Ione) McBride; her sisters: Cecile (Perry) Brown and Pat (Robert) Farrens.
She leaves behind a great legacy of love and a posterity whom she loves with all her heart.
The family expresses deep gratitude to the doctors and nurses at EIRMC for their professional and tender care of Alene.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Ucon LDS Stake Center, 2967 East 105 North, Ucon. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, September 22, 2017, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, and one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Ucon Cemetery.
