Alice Christine Chamberlain Allen, 90, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 12, 2018, at Crystal Creek Assisted Living Center surrounded by her family and friends. Alice was under the loving care of Avalon Hospice.

Alice was born on March 16, 1927, in Cora, Kansas to Chris and Lillian Chamberlain. Her mother passed away when she was 15 months old and on January 4, 1933, she was adopted by her grandparents Charles and Martha Green. Alice went to school in a one room school house and often rode her favorite horse there and back. She graduated in 1945 from high school where she played forward on the basketball team

She married Vernon W. Allen on December 4, 1950, in Malad, Idaho. They settled down in Idaho Falls and spent their time square dancing at dance halls around the area. They had two children Tamara Naomi (Hopla) in 1951 and Thomas Allen in 1953. Alice worked for various companies over the years—Mountain Bell Telephone, Broadway Bowl, Sprouse Reitz, Sears, and K-Mart. She was active in the Eagles Lodge and served as president of the Women's Auxiliary for the VFW. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, dancing (Snowball's in Swan Valley), bingo, and camping at Buffalo Camp Ground in Island Park.

Alice took special care of Vernon, her beloved husband of 48 years. Following his passing, she spent a great number of years paying tribute to Idaho's veterans through her service with the VFW. She was very social and active in her community. Alice especially loved spending time visiting with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers (Loyal Chamberlain and Perry Green), three sisters (Golda Green, Lillian Green, and Naomi Green), her husband, Vernon W. Allen, and one son (Thomas V. Allen).

Alice is survived by her daughter Tamara N (Jim) Hopla of Idaho Falls, four grandchildren (Aimee C (Chris) Simdorn, Jimmie J. (Anne Marie) Hopla, Jessica Albano, and Sara Albano), and eleven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at the Ucon Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
