Alice Katherine Hopla, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away from natural causes on February 20, 2024, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living in Idaho Falls, ID.
Alice was born on July 5, 1936, in Pocatello, Idaho to her loving parents, Albert Wendell Rust and Rachel Irene Olive Rust. She was the first of five daughters. She grew up in Pocatello, Idaho and graduated from Pocatello High School. Alice grew up loving the outdoors and fishing with her dad as often as she could.
Alice married Jimmie M. Hopla in Pocatello, Idaho on March 31, 1961. During their marriage, they lived and raised their family in the Idaho Falls area. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple. Some of Alice's favorite pastimes were playing bingo, camping, golf, and especially enjoying their cabin in the Palisades Reservoir area with her loving family and numerous friends.
After retiring from DOE in 1988 they moved to St. George, Utah and spent their summers in Mackay, Idaho. Alice moved back to Idaho Falls in 2019 to be closer to her children. Alice was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities.
Alice is survived by her son Darin (Arlene) Hopla of Idaho Falls, Idaho; her stepchildren: Jimmie Lynn (Tammy) Hopla of Ririe, Idaho, Gail (Dan) Schoenberg of Moscow, Idaho, and Jolene (Steve) Hill of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sisters: Marilyn (Keith) Belnap of Mesquite, Nevada, Mardell (Kent) Henderson of St. George, Utah, and Wendy (Jody) Draney of Wilsonville, Oregon; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie, her parents, and her sister Dorothy Bird.
The family would like to thank the staff at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living and Symbii Home Health and Hospice for their loving care of their sweet mom, Alice.
A graveside service will be held at noon, March 4, 2024, at the Arco-Hillcrest Cemetery in Arco, Idaho under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
