She was born April 20, 1931, in New Haven, Conneticut to Elwood McLaughlin and Florence Mitchell McLaughlin. She grew up in Eastport, Maine and graduated in 1949 from Shead High School.
On August 2, 1958, she married Lee R. Martin in Penbrook, Maine. She moved often with her husband while he served in the military.
She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She was the treasurer for the Mountain River Snow Riders.
She enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, spending time with her friends, and especially spending time with her grandchildren, Alexis, Jason, Samantha, Chase, Ashton, and Haden, and great-grandchildren, Natallye and Gabriella.
Alice was very friend and family oriented, but she was not one you wanted to cross paths with.
She is survived by her husband, Lee R. Martin of Idaho Falls; a daughter, Anita (Jeff) Purdie of Spokane, WA; two sons, Stephen (Diane) Martin of Idaho Falls, and David Martin of Idaho Falls; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and a sister.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. The family visit with friends Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Taylor cemetery.
