Obituary

Alice Opal Fortner Chaffin Hayden Rolfe, 72, of Palisades, Idaho, died Saturday, October 7, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

She was born June 10, 1934, in Blackfoot, Idaho to Kenneth O'Neal and Opal Jolley O'Neal. She grew up in the Bingham County area and graduated from Firth High School.

In 1955, she married Fred Chaffin. They were later divorced. On Dec. 31, 1997, she married Don Rolfe in Reno, Nevada. She has lived in Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Swan Valley, and Lake Havasu, Arizona.

She worked at the Elks Club, the Country Club, and the South Fork Lodge in the restaurant business and manager of the South Fork Lodge.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Elks DOE.

She enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing, boating, garage sales and entertaining friends and family.

She loved life, family and friends. She never met a stranger.

She is survived by the following: husband, Don Rolfe of Palisades, Idaho; her daughter Linda (Spence) Warner of Swan Valley, ID; two sons, Fred (Debbie) Chaffin of Winnemucca, NV, and Kelley (Katie) Chaffin of Pocatello, ID; 2 stepdaughters, Denise (Richard) Anderson of Shelley, ID, and step-daughter, LaRae (Brent) Merrill of Clarkson, WA; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Hanna Mae Mitchell of Shelley, ID, Lela (Fred) Uptergrove of Carson City, NV, and Janice (Jack) Aycock of Reno, NV.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Chaffin; and a brother, Ted Fortner, Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, October 12, 2006, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street with Bishop Kay Wixom officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the mortuary. Burial will be at the Firth Cemetery.
