Alice Virginia (Ginger) Johnson Schnur, 82, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Ginger was born on October 24, 1942, in Aurora, Illinois to Chester (Chet) E. Johnson and Margaret (Margie) Cooke Johnson. She grew up in Paw Paw, Illinois where she graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1960. She went on to Rockford Secretarial College.
On December 10, 1966, she married Robert (Bob) Lawrence Schnur in Sycamore, Illinois. They had one daughter, Penney, who died at birth. They were later divorced. She was engaged to Billy Call. She went on to live in Genoa and Kingston, Illinois, Memphis, Missouri, and finally in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Ginger worked at Turner Propane, Family Service Agency of DeKalb County, Inc., and Resource Bank.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and Vice-President of the Kishwaukee Chapter, and she was also a member of Professional Secretaries International. She was an AVDID NASCAR fan. She loved reading and watching soap operas and game shows.
Ginger was diagnosed and lived with Cerebral palsy from a young age to her death. Because of this she developed her lifelong determination and resolve not to let this affect her life in any manner. Her sweet spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her brother, Calvin (Betty) Johnson of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Penny Schnur; her brothers: Kenneth (Ken) Johnson, Gordon (Gordy) Johnson, and Michael Johnson (childbirth); and her parents.
