Idaho Falls
Allen Eugene Lee Sr., 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Allen was born on August 24, 1938, to Allen William Lee and Betty Jeanne Higgins Lee in Long Beach, California. During World War II, Allen grew up at Signal Hill and Fontana, California. He was raised by his grandparents until he was about 7 years old. He was then raised by his parents after the war ended. His dad, was a POW.
He attended Rogers High School in Newport, Rhode Island, and graduated on June 6, 1957. On June 25, 1957, he joined the United States Air Force, and after nearly 4 years, he was honorably discharged on February 6, 1961. He went on to attend San Bernardino Valley College and the University of Idaho.
On June 25, 1958, he married Clara Ellen Freeman; from this union, 3 children were born: Debra, Allen, and Robert. After 46 years together, Clara passed away on August 21, 2004.
Allen was employed at Harvey Aluminum, Goodman Manufacturing, and Hunter Engineering in Riverside, California, for 15 years before working at INEL, INEEL, and INL in Idaho for 28 years, retiring in 2006. He lived in Running Springs, California, and Teton Valley, Idaho, but they lived for the last 49 years in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He was a Bible-believing Christian, and briefly after retiring, he served at the Idaho Falls Rescue Mission.
He enjoyed traveling and sightseeing, off-road 4-wheeling, prospecting, and was a rockhound, and campfires with his family. He also liked the outdoors, shooting and reloading, hunting, Trout fishing, and designing and fabricating mechanical equipment.
Allen Lee was a Jesus Christ-centered man of faith who was a faithful, loving husband; a loving, respected, great father and grandfather; an innovative mechanical engineer solutionist; and an outdoor, animal-loving enthusiast. To our family and friends, he was our mentor, pillar, and man of integrity to emulate.
Allen is survived by his daughter, Debra Jeanese (Brian) Tomsett; his sons: Allen Eugene Lee Jr. and Robert Eugene Lee; and grandsons, Sebastian (Aerica) Lee, Joshua Lee, Jason (Elizabeth) Tomsett, granddaughter Deanna (Shane) Timm, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
