Alta Leigh Fluke
Alta Leigh Fluke, 83, of Idaho Falls, died January 31, 2006, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of causes due to age.
She was born April 17, 1922, in Malad City, Idaho, to Daniel J. Leigh and Rachel Jones Leigh. She grew up in Malad and graduated from Malad High School in 1941.
During World War II, she married Willis Nathan Fluke on July 2, 1942, in Idaho Falls. They lived at various stateside military bases prior to her husbands overseas deployment. She retired from both Frenchs and Pillsbury potato processing plants in Shelley. She also worked with her husband in the family business, Snowline Honey, making apiary equipment.
She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Idaho Falls. She was active in the Braille Workers and enjoyed making Bibles for the blind.
As a young mother Alta, enjoyed taffy pulling with her kids, nieces and nephews, making fudge and other candy. She was a great cook, baker and enjoyed preserving food from the family garden. She volunteered as a cub scout leader, church school teacher, and for many years she was a 4-H Leader. She also enjoyed camping, hunting, and berry picking. In her later years, she enjoyed reading, and hand arts such as crocheting, embroidery, and cross-stitching on needle point canvas. Altas joy was taking care of others and she spent many years caring for her mother and aunt.
She is survived by the following: husband, Willis Nathan Fluke of Idaho Falls; a daughter, Annette (Kenhi) Drewes of Idaho Falls; sons: William Bill Thomas (Dorothy) Fluke and Richard Wayne (Ingrid) Fluke both of Arlee, Montana; grandchildren: Britt Majl (Jamie) Drewes-Conley of Idaho Falls; Corey Nicholas Drewes of Gooding, ID; Richard Fluke of Anchorage, AK; and Keegan Fluke of Arlee, MT; and two sisters; Ann Leigh (Martin) Littleton and Danna Leigh (Donald) Fluke both of Idaho Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Michelle Ann Fluke; two sisters, Bea Leigh Fowler and Jean Leigh Hooper; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 6, 2006, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, with Pastor Jerry Reinke officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Monday before the services at the mortuary.
