In March 1951, he married Joyce E. Obrey in Shelley, Idaho. They were later divorced. On January 10, 1976, he married LaRaine Curtis Summers in Elko, Nevada. Al worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years until he retired in 1989. Following his retirement, he worked as a school bus driver for five years.
He was passionate about raising and racing horses and had several pets that he loved. He enjoyed spending the holidays with his children and grandchildren, gardening, and he took great pride in his yard.
He is survived by the following: wife, LaRaine Williams of Idaho Falls; 2 sons, Rod (Vilma) Williams of Orem, Utah, and Roger (Kathy) Williams of Idaho Falls; 2 daughters, Susie (David) Wood of Rexburg, and Julie (Pete) Lombardozzi of Richland, Washington; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Donna Anderson of Blackfoot, and JoAnn Bird of Shelley; 4 brothers, Jerry Williams of Pocatello, Carl Williams of Olympia, Washington, and Fred and Brent Rowe both of Idaho Falls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ralph; a sister, Maureen, and a granddaughter, Rose.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services. at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Ucon Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
