Alvin Edwards, 84, of Lincoln, Idaho, died Friday, July 22, 2011, at his home in Lincoln from complications of cancer. He was under the care of Hospice Alliance. He was born on December 24, 1926, to Vernon Benjamin and Harriet Elizabeth Barrington Edwards in Lincoln, Idaho. He was raised in Lincoln. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1945. In High School, he played basketball and track. He married Fonda Lou Campbell in Idaho Falls on May 25, 1947. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 25, 1948. Fonda died in August, 2008. He lived in Lincoln, Idaho Falls and Iona. He worked at the U&I Sugar Company, and INEL, formerly EG&G. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved to chauffer the missionaries on their p-day, taking them to get groceries and run other errands. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, traveling, playing fast pitch softball and golf. Alvin would say quite often, "It's A Great Life." He is survived by the following: Daughter, Connie McKenzie of Idaho Falls Son, O. Kay (Verneta) Edwards of Iona Daughter, Sharon Rudd of Salt Lake City, Utah Daughter, Barbra (Larry) Eggett of Riverton, Utah Sister, Iris Morgan of Lincoln 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild He is preceded in death by his spouse, Fonda Edwards, parents, Vernon and Hattie Edwards, brother, Lyman Edwards, sister, Ruth Misner, and grandson, Blake Eggett. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Lincoln Ward Building, 3700 E. Lincoln Road, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Kent Lott officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m, Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at the Lincoln Cemetery.
