Obituary

Alvin Reed McDaniel, 53, of Idaho Falls, and formerly of Blackfoot, died October 22, 2009, of a sudden heart attack. He was born December 9, 1955, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Karl Wayne McDaniel and Lucille King McDaniel. He grew up in Blackfoot and graduated in 1974 from Blackfoot High School. He attended Ricks College where he studied music. On February 16, 1979, he married Sara Beth Truitt in Salt Lake City. For most of Alvin's married life, he lived and worked in Idaho Falls. He was the creator and inventor of the Ultravend Vending machine. For the past 16 years, he owned a computer business developing websites and creating computer programs which he did with the help of his wife and 4 sons. He was always creating new ideas. Alvin's favorite hobby was enjoying and photographing the beautiful wildlife in Yellowstone Park and meeting new people. Beautiful music was an important part of his life. He had a beautiful tenor voice and singing brought great joy to him. Alvin's most important treasures in his life were his wife and children. He was a loving, kind husband and father who considered everyone his friend. He had great memories with his family and shared exciting dreams with them. He loved his 2 grandchildren, Haylee and Dawson, very much and looked forward to their Friday night sleep overs where they laughed and played together. He is survived by his wife, Beth McDaniel of Idaho Falls; sons: Shawn (Candice) McDaniel, Paul McDaniel, Jeff McDaniel all of Idaho Falls; and Steve McDaniel of Odenton, Maryland; grandchildren, Haylee and Dawson McDaniel; his mother, Lucille McDaniel of St. George, Utah; brothers: Blake (Paula) McDaniel of Idaho Falls; Rick (Janet) McDaniel of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Stan (Karen) McDaniel of Flint, Michigan. He was preceded in death by a son, James Karl McDaniel; his father, Karl McDaniel, and sister, Caroline Hemming. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 30, 2009, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, with Shawn McDaniel conducting. The family will visit with friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Coltrin Mortuary and Friday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
