Obituary

Our Beautiful, fun, vivacious, daughter Ashley Floyd has left this earth to be with her Father in Heaven. She passed away at home with complications of brain cancer, with her family and her children by her side, on August 15, 2017.

Ashley was born on June 19, 1982, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Brett and Rhonda Floyd. Ashley was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In Ashley's short 35 years she showed she had such an amazing zest for life. She wanted to experience it all. She loved to dance and was very artistic. At a very young age, Ashley decided that she wanted a degree in socializing. She was very successful in her pursuit of that diploma. Ashley loved everybody and always gave people the benefit of the doubt. Ashley started dancing at a young age. She competed on a performing team and performed solo routines as well. She loved to dance. Ashley went to Hillcrest High School where she decided to dance with her friends on the school dance team. After high school, Ashley moved to Provo, Utah, and went to college at UVSC for a semester and then started at the Paul Mitchel School of Hair. Just a month short of graduation at Paul Mitchell, a family auto accident required Ashley to move back to Idaho Falls, transferring to Career Beauty College in Rexburg. She had to start her beauty school all over while helping her mother recover from the accident. Thankfully, Ashley graduated and began work at Carlyle Beauty in Idaho Falls. While working at Carlyle Beauty, Ashley gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Taja. She then married Davien Brokaw in 2007, and was subsequently divorced in 2012. With this union, she added a son, DJ, to be a little brother to Taja. After a couple of years working at Carlyle, and another salon, Ashley decided to fulfill her dream and open her own beauty salon. She opened Ambiance Beauty Salon. Ashley had a very successful career and business, but after 6 years of having her own salon, decided to sell it so she could pursue other goals.

Ashley became an instructor for Austin Kade Hair Academy in Pocatello, Idaho, for a short time and decided she wanted it bigger. Ashley became an Educator for Farouk Hair Systems Team and Chi Hair Products. This opportunity opened many doors for her. She was able to travel and meet some incredible people and do what she loved. In January of 2017, right after being diagnosed with brain cancer, she was supposed to be going to the Miss Universe Pageant in the Philippines where she was to do hair and make-up for the contestants. She also had the opportunity to go to the Miss America Pageant and compete to do the hair of the contestants a few years earlier. With her creative talents with hair and make-up, Ashley began work with Craig Lemere at MOZ Studios to push her talents to a new level. She began with body painting and experienced a great deal of success in that area as well. She was invited by Otto Ott (Skin Wars TV Series) to work with him doing face and body painting. Because of the brain tumor she never got that opportunity. Ashley's talent knew no bounds and she had a deep love for people. She was always ready to help people and be a big support and mentor to them. Her clients became some of her best friends and she cherished each and every one of them. Everybody knew her for her infectious and contagious laugh. Her personality was bigger than life itself. She was a beautiful soul inside and out.

After being diagnosed in early January and suffering a massive stroke due to the tumor's pressure on her brain, Ashley came out of the hospital fighting just like she always fought. She was able to start walking with a crutch, but never regained the use of her arm. Her life was very frustrating for her to handle because of having people do such simple, but necessary tasks for her. For the last 8 months, she has never given up hope or lost faith. Her biggest pleasure and love in this life were her two beautiful children, Taja and DJ. Through her every day struggles and battles, leaving her children was always what left her with a heavy heart. They were her pride and joy and she felt they were her greatest accomplishments. Ashley was holding her children's hands and she passed with tears in her eyes.

Ashley is survived by her mom and dad Brett and Rhonda Floyd, brother TJ (Brooke) Floyd, Idaho Falls, sister Brittany (Jared) Webster, Menan, Idaho, sister Hailey (Bruce) Moore, Idaho Falls. Nieces and nephews that were a huge light in her life.

Ashley was proceeded in death by her grandmother, Shirley Floyd.

Ashley will have a viewing at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, on Thursday, August 24, 2017, from 6:00-8:00 pm.
