Obituary

Clarence Rock Jr., 91, of Ucon, Idaho, peacefully returned to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, May 24, 2017. He was under the care of his loving family and Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Clarence was born in Colton, California, on September 16, 1925, to Ola Mae Miller and Brigham C. Rock.  He grew up in California and Idaho.

He served honorably in the United States Navy from November 1943 until April 1946. He then joined the United States Army National Guard until September 1951.

In June of 1953, he married his sweetheart, Sheron Richmond.  They were married almost 64 years.  They were blessed with five children: Ken, Bill, Barb, J.C., and FaNae.

He worked as a cabinetry maker and as the maintenance man for the City of Ucon.  He was also a councilman for the City of Ucon.

Clarence was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served faithfully in many different callings.  He served 13 years in the Idaho Falls Temple, in the scouting program as a Scoutmaster, and was a faithful Home Teacher.

He was a man of many talents who could design, build, repair, or improve upon almost anything. He loved working with his hands and keeping busy.  He loved working with model trains as he built, shared with others and then recreated his train designs.  He built and flew model airplanes as well. He loved to fly but there were many crashes which meant he could then rebuild them, which he loved the most! His children and grandchildren especially enjoyed watching the trains and planes with him.  He also had many neighbor children intrigued by his hobbies.  He was part of the Red Baron RC Model Airplane Club.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Advanced Home Health, Hospice of Eastern Idaho, and the many friends that helped give such compassionate care to Clarence.

He is survived by his wife, Sheri; his sons: Ken (LaDawn) Rock, of Denver, Colorado, Bill (Michelle) Rock, of Malta, Montana; his daughters: Barb (Jeff) Westfall, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and FaNae (Ralph) Oakeson, of Riverton, Utah; 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, James (J.C.); and a great-grandson, Hiatt.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the LDS Church in Ucon, 10854 North 41st East.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, from 7-9 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls and an hour prior to the services at the church in Ucon.  Interment will be at the Ucon Cemetery, with full military rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
