Barbara Dorst, 85, of Rexburg, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024.

Barbara was born on February 20, 1939, to John Schwartz and Verda Archibald Schwartz in Malad, Idaho. The Family soon moved to the Lost River Valley where she graduated from Butte High School in 1957.

On May 2, 1964, she married James Dorst. They had three children: Marcene Oldham, Allison Meyer, and Martin Dorst.

Barbara loved to be in the Mountains and spent a great deal of time enjoying the smell of the Pines. She was an accomplished seamstress, creating wedding dresses for her daughters, and providing the community with her services by doing alterations, making quilts, and Knitting sweaters.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; sister, Verlene; children: Marcene, Allison, and Martin; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Belva; and great-grandson, Connor.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the Henrys Fork Stake Center, 1508 West 3000 North, Rexburg Idaho. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to services. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls.
