Barbara Ellen Oswald Peterson, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 21, 2012, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center due to complications from a stroke. She was born June 11, 1923, in Osgood, Idaho, to William Harry Oswald and Mabel Larue Fife Oswald. She grew up in Osgood and attended high school in Ammon. Following high school, she attended Ricks College, now known as BYU Idaho. On May 20, 1947, she married Ralph Elmer Peterson in Idaho Falls. They were later divorced. She was a homemaker and enjoyed dancing, sewing, painting, crocheting and playing the piano. Barbara is survived by the following: daughters: Raline (William) Rowley of Kingman, Arizona; Janis (Robert) Sadzewicz of Henderson, Nevada; Ginger (Robert) Meeks of Sheridan, Montana; Charlene Smith of Shelley, Idaho; Vickie (David) Ahlstrom of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Christine (John) Campbell of Rexburg, Idaho; and Brenda (Mike) Shadler of Magna, Utah; a son, Loren (Elaine) Peterson of Ammon, Idaho; 24 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; sisters: Wilma Neal of Snowville, Utah and Alta "Dee" (Vincent) Crane of Seattle, Washington; a brother, Merlin Oswald of Blackfoot, and sisters-in-law: Glena Oswald of Ogden, Utah; Neava Oswald of Bountiful, Utah; and Iva Pennington of Nampa, Idaho. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Betty Oswald, and 5 brothers: Gordon, Howard, Ronnie, Lowell, and Darwin Oswald. Funeral services will be Friday, January 27, 2012, at 12 Noon at the Idaho Falls LDS 11th Ward Chapel, 1235 Juniper Dr., with Bishop Tom Barker officiating.
