Obituary

Barbara Louise Stone Sage, 97, of Idaho Falls, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at her home. She was under the care of Symbii Home Health and Hospice.

Barbara was born on February 29, 1928, in Blackfoot, Idaho to Victor Reed Stone and Vilda Martha Williams Stone. She was the first leap-year baby in Bingham County history. She grew up in Blackfoot and graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1944.

On June 16, 1948, she married Teddy Kip Sage in Idaho Falls Temple. They made their home in Wyoming, Nevada, California, and finally settled in Idaho. He passed away on October 15, 2003. She worked for Bell Telephone in Blackfoot and Sears Catalog Department.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the primary program in various capacities, as well as in the MIA and Relief Society. She especially loved serving in the Special Needs Primary. She was an ordinance worker at the Oakland Temple and the Idaho Falls Temple.

Mom loved gardening, reading, knitting and crocheting, baking, and sewing, she sewed all the girls' clothes and costumes, and she even sewed hundreds of Barbie clothes at Christmas time.

Barbara is survived by her daughters: Gayla Ann (David) Hillgrove of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Betty Lou Selvidge of Newark, California, Shauna Lee Dye of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Judi Lyn (Rob) O'Brien of Cedar City, Utah; her son, Jeffery Stone (Lori) Sage of Milwaukie, Oregon; her sister, Mavis Claire Stoddard of Kaysville, Utah; 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 1great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents: Victor and Vilda Stone; her husband, Teddy Sage; her brother, Jerry Reed Stone; and her son, Bruce Kip Sage.

A Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Shelley-Hillcrest Cemetery.
