She was born November 24, 1922, in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Francis Albertson and Margaret Robinson Albertson. She attended the first eight years of school in Osgood and high school in Ammon.
She married Virgil Lawrence Thornton August 20, 1947, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She worked at Woolworth's Department store for many years and The Party Shop. She tended many children in her home for many years. She sewed for many people over the years. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as secretary for many auxiliaries and teacher in the Primary, Y.W.M.I.A. and Sunday School. She had a passion for genealogy.
She is survived by a daughter, Diane (David) Covert of Iona; grandchildren: Tiffany (Jorge) Mendoza, Amber (Travis) Bell, both of Idaho Falls, and David Covert Jr. of Moberly, Missouri; five great-grandchildren: Jackson Alexander Mendoza, Avery Elizabeth Mendoza, Garrett John Bell, Syia Elizabeth Covert and Alicia Silver Covert, siblings: Daniel (Ora) Albertson of Osgood, Gloy (George) Messick of Rexburg, Nyla Landon of Kimball, Annis Taylor of Idaho Falls, and Floyd (Janeal) Albertson of Snake River; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, her parents, and six brothers: Francis, Raymond, Orville, Merrill, Roger and Billy.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2007, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls with Bishop Scott Brizzee officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7-8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Coltrin Mortuary and Monday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery.
