Bennie Nelson Rinehart, 85, of Idaho Falls, died Saturday, December 14, 2013, at the Gables of Ammon Assisted Living. He was under the care of Encompass Hospice. He was born October 15, 1928, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the son of Oliver N. Rinehart and Mildred L. Stealey Rinehart. He grew up in Parkersburg and in 1947, he graduated from Parkersburg High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, and a second Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Tri State College in Angola, Indiana. He served for a period of time in the U. S. Army. On August 24, 1950, he married Betty Jo McDonald in Parkersburg. She passed away January 24, 2006. He worked for Corning Glass Works in Parkersburg, New York, and Paden City, West Virginia. Bennie worked for American Electric Power in Hurricane, West Virginia; Roanoke, Virginia; Metropolis, Illinois, and Racine, Ohio. In 1980, he moved to Idaho Falls, where he went to work for EG&G. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and scouting. He served in the Boy Scouts of America organization for over 60 years. In West Virginia, he volunteered with the fire department and with the State Police. Bennie was a loving, caring father and a mentor to all of us; he knew no strangers. He is survived by his sons: Benjamin N. (Pamela) Rinehart Jr. of North Canton, Ohio; Michael E. (Sharon) Rinehart of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Wayne L. Rinehart of Marietta, Ohio; a daughter, Pamela J. (Randy) Campbell of Ammon, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren, a twin brother, Bernie Rinehart of Lehi Acres, Florida; and a brother, Wayne A. Rinehart of Matthews, North Carolina. Besides his wife, Betty Jo, and his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by his step-father, H. L. Galusha; and a brother, Oliver N. "Bud" Rinehart. Private family services will be held.
