IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Beth Nelson
Peterson
February 25, 1916 – July 8, 2008
She was born February 25, 1916, in Weston, Idaho, the daughter of Hans Christian Nelson and Sarah Maughan Nelson. She grew up in Weston and in 1934, graduated from Weston High School. She worked in Salt Lake City and then later in Pocatello. It was here she met her future husband, LaVar Peterson. They were married on October 21, 1939 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
They moved to Rexburg and it was here their twins were born. In 1950, they moved to Idaho Falls and Beth worked at J.C. Penney's until her retirement. She made many friends and loved to go to lunch with the "Penney Girls".
Beth enjoyed plants, flowers, and she raised a beautiful garden. She always said things to make people laugh. She was a good cook, a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved music and could play the piano by ear. She sewed some of her own clothes and had a special gift for making them unique. She was a regular participant of aerobic exercise until she was 89.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions including counselor in the Relief Society at the age of 80 and she enjoyed attending the temple.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, LaVar, and her twin daughters: Jane (Paul) Ahlstrom and Joan (Stephen) Peterson all of Idaho Falls; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Kenneth, Garold, Ralph, and Clint Nelson; and two sisters, Beatrice Hyde and Gean Corbridge.
