Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Nation, 93, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and formerly of Miles City, Montana, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014, at her home. She was under the care of her family and Access Home Care and Hospice. She was born May 27, 1920, in Crawford, Nebraska, the 6th child of 7 born to Roy Churchill Curtis and Minnie Julia Clements Curtis. She attended Crawford High School and then in Montana she became a medical records terminologist. On April 16, 1939, she married Clark W. Nation in Hot Springs, South Dakota. Clark passed away April 28, 1997. Besides living in Crawford, Nebraska, and Hot Springs, South Dakota, Betty lived in Miles City, Montana. After Clark died, she moved to Idaho living first in Rigby and later in Idaho Falls. She worked as a telephone operator, a grocery store clerk, and a hardware store clerk. Betty worked as an Assistant Registrar for the Veterans Administration for twenty-five years. Following her retirement from the VA, she was the medical coordinator at the Broadus, Montana Rest Home for 2 years. In Miles City, Montana, Betty was a member for a number of years of the Range Rider Reps and the R.S.V.P. Director from 1981 to 1983. In Rigby, she had been a member of the E.S.A. Sorority in Rigby since 1999. Betty joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and became an active member serving in many leadership positions in all areas of the church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling, quilting and fishing. Mary was an adventurous, independent, person who loved her family, life, her church, and politics. Betty is survived by the following: Daughters: Joanne (Eldon) Morrell of Firth, and Diana Nation of Idaho Falls; Son: David (Donna) Nation of Miles City, Montana; 10 Grandchildren, 29 Great-grandchildren and 4 Great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Clark Nation, she was preceded in death by her sons: Gordon Earl and Frank Duane Nation; a great-grandson, Brandon Weston Morrell, and a daughter-in-law, Earlene Nation. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Ammon LDS 15th Ward Chapel, 1925 E. 49 South, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends Thursday, January 30, 2014, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, and at the church on Friday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City, Montana.
