Obituary

Betty Lucy Eynon Roice was born November 16, 1932 in Jackson, Wyoming. She was fiercely proud of being a Jackson Hole native. Betty was the daughter of Lester Eynon who was born in Victor, Idaho, July 8, 1899 and Maude Eynon who came to Jackson in 1923 to teach at the Spread Creek School. Some of Betty's fondest memories were of her childhood at the Block S Ranch, which is known now as Lost Creek Ranch. She loved reminiscing of how she and her sister Nancy rode horses and ran wild and free on the ranch. Betty and Nancy were more than sisters, they were best friends.

We used to tease her about walking uphill (both ways) in knee deep snow to school and back, but the children of Lester and Maude Eynon really did ride horses and sleighs, walk, or if they were lucky ride in a snow plane to school. Life in Jackson Hole was tough when Betty was a child, but she treasured every one of her memories, all of her friendships, her family, and her life in Jackson. Betty always said "if you didn't know any different, it was all an adventure and what didn't kill you made you stronger". Betty Roice was always a lady, but she was a one of a kind strong lady with great will and determination to make things work and keep her family together in good times and bad. One of Betty's greatest joys was camping with her children and close family friends down on the Big Sandy.

In 1950, Betty met and married her sole mate, Jack Roice. To this loving union their four children, Kenny, Kathy, Miles and Monty Roice were born.

Jack & Betty ran the family excavation company; Arrow Contractors, together until multiple sclerosis made it impossible for Jack to continue. Betty not only lovingly cared for Jack in their home until his death; she continued to run the excavation company with the help of her sons Kenneth, Miles and Monty. Betty was proud that she was one of the first minority woman owned business in Wyoming. Jack proudly boasted that Betty managed it all and still had the time to produce her famous family dinners at least twice a month. She retired in 1992, and sold the business to her son Miles.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Maude and Lester Eynon, her husband Jack Roice, her brothers Calvin and Gene Eynon, her sister Nancy Eynon Ritchey, and her youngest son Monty Roice.

She is survived by her brother Mick Eynon, her children; Kenny, Kathy, and Miles, and her many grandchildren and great grand children.

Betty was a loving and doting mother, grandmother, great grandmother and a loyal friend to many. Her wisdom and love saw our family through many tough times. Her lessons of life, love, and the importance of family, will never be forgotten.

Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls. Idaho.
