Obituary

Betty Joyce Squires Bell, 76, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2005, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from heart failure. She was born May 14, 1929, to Whitney Napoleon Squires and Harriet Hendricks Squires in Hibbard, Idaho.

She married Seth Robertson in Rexburg, Idaho in 1948. They had four children, Terrell, Rex, Michelle, and Bart. They divorced in 1955. She married Larry Evans Bell in Rexburg, Idaho August 26, 1959. Larry had four children: Gerri, Joni, Jana, and Kim. After their marriage they had a daughter, Lisa. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in 1965. They raised their children together as one family; his, mine, and ours. Their nine children were 11 years apart.

Betty and Larry loved traveling. Together they traveled through 43 states. They wintered in Yuma, Arizona, for the past 19 years, where they made many close friends. Betty loved decorating her homes, had the most beautiful garden and flower beds, enjoyed making quilts for all her grandkids and many other crafts. She is especially remembered for her beautiful dried flower wreaths she sold in local craft fairs. She and Larry enjoyed camping and hunting, and she out-fished him on many occasions. Betty is famous for her canned pickles, fruit leather, raspberry freezer jam, and homemade taffy. She was a great cook.

Mostly she will be remembered for her great kindness and compassion she showed to so many people and her strong faith. She loved her children and grandchildren and took pride in all of them turning out to be kind individuals. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including Stake and Ward Relief Society President and was the Relief Society homemaking leader for many years. She was preceded in death by : her parents; eight brothers and sisters including her twin brother, Brent; a grandson, Scott Ammon Despain; a great-granddaughter, Sage Robertson.

She is survived by her husband, Larry E. Bell of Idaho Falls; brother, Reed (Cora Jean) Squires of Rexburg; sisters, Wretta Ward of Annis; Geraldine Squires of Rexburg; children: Terrell (Rita) Robertson; Rex (Carolyn) Robertson; Michelle (George) Price; Bart (J'lene) Robertson; Jana (Ken) Knoch; Lisa (Bradley) Bridges all of Idaho Falls; Gerri Albright of Portland, Oregon; Joni (Tom) Despain of Morgan, Utah; and Larry Kim (Barbara) Bell of Brigham City, Utah; 33 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 5, 2005, at the Idaho Falls LDS 18th Ward Chapel, 1200 Dunbar with Bishop Frank Johnston officiating. The family will meet with friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2005, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls and at the church Monday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Sugar City Cemetery.
