Obituary

Beverly (Brown) Going, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of February 6, 2025, at her home. She was born on February 21, 1938, to Bevan and Deniece Brown in Fillmore, Utah.

Beverly grew up in the small town of Scipio, Utah, where she fondly remembered her childhood days spent having picnics at Maple Grove and sneaking off to walk the barn beams and climb trees while her mother took a nap. She attended Millard High School in Fillmore, where she was a baton majorette and proudly participated in Girls State, a program that took her to Logan, Utah for the competition.

She later attended Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah, where she majored in business and was a member of the "Spurs" marching group. During her time at BYU, she often rode home with her good friend, and Scipio neighbor, Lynn McArthur, who had a handsome roommate from Idaho named Melvin Going. Melvin often traveled home with Lynn, and it was on these trips that he became the love of Beverly's life.

Beverly and Melvin were married on April 19, 1958, in the Manti Temple, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. After their marriage, Melvin convinced Beverly to leave her beloved Utah and move to Idaho. They first settled in Moreland, Idaho, where their first child, Jeneice, was born. They then moved to Blackfoot, Idaho, where their son Chad was born. Finally, they made their home in Idaho Falls, where they welcomed two more children, Lynn and Shawn.

Beverly was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings throughout her life, including Relief Society President and counselor, teacher, and homemaking leader. However, her greatest passion was working with the children in the Primary, where she served multiple times as Primary President and counselor. She truly cared for those she served and was a loving example to all, especially her children.

Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Beverly loved attending her grandchildren's school and sports events, hosting family Easter egg hunts, and continuing cherished Christmas traditions.

Beverly's many talents ranged from crocheting to tole painting, but it was her gift for cooking that led her to start a catering business, which she ran with her daughter, Jeniece, for several years. Her love of flowers also found expression as a florist, working at various flower shops over the years. But perhaps her most beloved work was creating corsages and boutonnieres for her children and grandchildren's dances and weddings.

Melvin and Beverly shared a deep love for adventure and traveled extensively together throughout their lives. Their journeys took them to beautiful destinations such as Hawaii, Alaska, and across the continental U.S., as well as to Mexico, New Zealand, Switzerland, and various other European countries. Whether exploring new landscapes or simply enjoying each other's company, they cherished the opportunity to create lasting memories and experience the world side by side.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Melvin Going; her daughter, Jeniece (William) Budner of Bellbrook, OH, her sons, Chad Going, Lynn (Michelle) Going, and Shawn (Heather) Going, all of Idaho Falls; 12 grandchildren, Cody (Kirsten) Fresh, Carson (Megan) Fresh, Tyler (Jordan) Going, Kyle (Makayla) Going, Kennedy (Ethan) Nelson, Kevan Going, Trevor Going, McKenna Going, McKayla Going, Wyatt Going, Morgan Going, and Ethan Going; and 6 great-grandchildren, Sutton, Nixon, and Houston Fresh, and Jackson, Aspen, and Bridger Going.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bevan and Deniece Brown, and granddaughter, Taylor Kaye Going.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Symbii Home Health and Hospice, especially Nicole Miles, for their compassionate care.
