Obituary

Bill Bob Davie returned home on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the age of 76. Bill waged a valiant fight through heart and kidney failure for the past few years, while staying sharp as ever. He often said he was like a great car, unfortunately, his parts were just wearing out too soon.

He married his loving and eternal wife of almost 53 years, Suzzanne, on July 12, 1970. They have two daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah (Randall) and Raelynn (Brandon), as well as seven favorite grandchildren: Kayla, Carter, Karlee, Maleya, Kinsley, Paisley, and Leyla. He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant sister, Lena Lucille.

Bill was born December 24, 1946, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Lena Rae (Hunt) and William George Davie. He lived in Phoenix until 7 th grade but always claimed sunny Arizona as his home. From there he moved to Fruitland, New Mexico, where he farmed, raised horses, and lived next door to his grandmother, whom he dearly loved.

At the age of 18, Bill received what he called a lovely letter from Uncle Sam, drafting him into military service. Bill served 6 years in the Army National Guard, honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. He loved his country, had a deep respect for the military, and was always honored to be of service.

Bill attended New Mexico State University for a short time, then moved to Colorado to attend Denver Automotive and Diesel College, where he became a Master Mechanic. He loved to learn and was an expert in all things that went "up and down or round and round." He truly could fix anything. He was always willing to use his talent to come to the rescue of a friend or neighbor in need.

Bill worked for Martin Marietta and United Airlines, prior to owning and operating South Downing Service, a successful automotive repair shop in Denver for more than 30 years. He retired and moved to Idaho Falls, where he loved being closer to his family.

Bill's fondest times in life were spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren traveling around the country in his motorhome, or working on a car in the garage or a project in his wood shop.

The family would like to thank the wonderful medical staff at Idaho Kidney Center and EIRMC Hospital for all the love and care they've given to Bill.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bill's honor to the Wounded Warrior Project to assist fellow veterans online at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate .
