Obituary

Bonnie Ashment, 95, of Idaho Falls, passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Bonnie was born on August 18, 1929, to Howard and Mary Etta Hammer in Harlem, Montana. Bonnie was a homemaker. She loved to play the harmonica and sing and did so until the very end. She loved old Western music. Her father bought her a guitar when she was young, and she loved playing whenever possible.

Bonnie was a master at embroidery and crochet, and she taught the craft to her daughters and granddaughters. She was lively and fun; always entertaining her guests with funny remarks, singing, and dancing.

Closer to the end, her daughter, Janet, moved in with her to care for her during her last four months of life. It was a very special time in their relationship. They would sit on the couch, holding hands and looking out the window reminiscing of old times.

Bonnie married William (Bill) Clay in Idaho Falls. In their 50 years of marriage, Bonnie and Bill had 8 children: Lita, Sandy, Brad, Rod, Gary, Sherri, Janet, and Bruce. William Clay passed away on April 28, 1991. Bonnie married Blaine Ashment in 1992, and Blaine passed away in 2011. Bonnie then married Max Holmquist in 2017, and Max passed away in 2024. Bonnie was a widow at the time of her passing.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husbands; her children: Bruce, Rod, Brad, Lita, and Gary.

She is survived by her daughters: Sherri (Paul Long) and Janet (Jeff Farnes); 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation is under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
