January 22, 1950 – June 22, 2019
Robert Bruce Williams, 69, of Idaho Falls, returned to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family. He demonstrated fortitude and strength in his battle with cancer and the complications through this fight. Bruce inspired his family and others in his positive perseverance in tackling unimaginable medical procedures and health obstacles.
Bruce was born on January 22, 1950, in Idaho Falls to LaVern Williams and Doris Jorgensen Williams. Growing up in Ammon, he was the third of eleven children. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1968 and continued his education at Idaho State University.
On August 10, 1974, he married his sweetheart, Linda Lou Slack, in Iona, Idaho. To this union were born two children: Amie and Robert. Bruce and Linda made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Bruce started working with Denning's Appliance as a deliveryman in 1973. Over many years, he developed his talents through various positions with their company until venturing out to create his own business, Bruce's Appliance Repair, in February 2002.
He enjoyed fly fishing, traveling with family, the Green Bay Packers, and repairing a variety of appliances. Above everything, Bruce found an incredible amount of joy in spending time with his family. His grandchildren brightened his day and brought a huge smile to his face.
As a worthy member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bruce was sealed for time and eternity to his loving wife and family on June 23, 2001, in the Idaho Falls Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Slack Williams of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Amie (Jason) Croft of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Robert (Bekah) Williams of Idaho Falls, ID; his grandchildren: Jascinda LaDeen Amberlyn Croft who is currently serving a Mission for her Church and Ambriegh Ellen Marilla Croft of Idaho Falls, ID; his brothers: Wayne Williams, Carl (Tammy) Williams, Clyde (Bonnie Mallo) Williams, and Bill Williams; his sisters: Judy (Mickey) McCafferty and Connie Hahn. Survivors include sisters-in-law: Terrie (Jim) Kellogg and Carol (Reuben) Dodge; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, LaVern Williams; mother, Doris Williams; brother, Rex Williams; sisters: Jean Johnson, Sandra Smith, and Brenda Joyce Williams; father-in-law, Newell Slack; mother-in-law, LaDeen Jeffs Slack; brother-in-law Drew Johnson. His adoring fur baby beagles, Marleigh Ayn and Sahshiah Raiyn, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Wilford Cemetery, 2540 E. 225 North Road, St. Anthony, ID with a dedicatory prayer offered by Jason Croft.
The family would like to express special thanks for the efforts of Dr. Christian Shull, Dr. Luke Haws, and Dr. Paul Stanford. The incredible care taken in providing love and support to Bruce and his family by the many nurses and medical professionals will not be forgotten. The thoughts, prayers, and understanding of our family, neighbors, and friends enveloped us in strength that got us through the difficult moments… thank you!
