Obituary

Carmen Drake Edelmayer, 85, of Roberts, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Teton Post-Acute Care and Rehab. Carmen was born on February 6, 1930, in Annis, Idaho to Oscar Burton and Alice Orel Drake. She was delivered by a pioneer, Dr. Earl Jones, at home. She grew up in Annis, Hamer and Roberts, Idaho. In 1948 she graduated from Roberts High School. On October 17, 1949, she married Jack H. Edelmayer. They made their home in Roberts, Idaho. Together they had six children. In her earlier years Carmen spent many years working in the potato industry, and she spent many years cutting and wrapping meat for Dutson's Store and Glenwood Packing. She worked as City Clerk for seventeen years and retired in 1999. She was a member of the Valley Art Guild and of Jefferson County Historical Society. She helped design the Roberts Room at the Jefferson County Museum. She also designed the commemorative stamp of the Market Lake/Roberts Centennial. Carmen was a wonderful homemaker, artist, musician, gardener, and seamstress. She especially loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was an avid reader of all history, but especially of the pioneer history of the early settlers of the upper Snake River area. Carmen will forever be remembered as a guiding light for all who knew her, and as being young at heart. She especially loved her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Jack H. Edelmayer, of Roberts, Idaho Her son, Kevin (Patty) Edelmayer, of Roberts, Idaho Her son, James Edelmayer, of Roberts, Idaho Her son, Kim Edelmayer, of Mountain View, Wyoming Her daughter, Tamra (Casey Edwards) Piazza, of Roberts,Idaho Her daughter, Nan (Kirby) McFarland, of Rigby, Idaho Her daughter, Shari (Roger) Bradford, of Boise, Idaho Her sister, Shirley Ann (DelRay) Holm, of Roberts, Idaho 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Alice Drake; her brothers: Burton, Duane, Vernon, Marion, and Zane; sister, Thora Allred; her grandson, Jonathon McFarland and her great-granddaughter, Mia Jean Edelmayer.
