IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol Olsen
Terry
September 18, 1924 – December 4, 2017
Carol Olsen Terry, 93, of Idaho Falls, died Monday, December 4, 2017, at the home of her daughter in Teton, Idaho.
Carol was born on September 18, 1924, in Milo, Idaho to Richard John and Caroline Davis Olsen. She grew up in the Milo area where she attended elementary school. She graduated from Ucon High School.
She married Marvin Evert Terry in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on December 27, 1946. They are the parents of six daughters. When they were first married they lived on Antelope east of Ririe, where Marvin farmed. They later moved to the East River Road in Idaho Falls and then in 1954, they moved their family to Milo where they lived for 54 years. They retired in Idaho Falls, near their daughter.
Her priority was her calling as a wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked at various other jobs such as: florist, bookkeeper, and school lunchroom cook.
Carol was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities. She and her husband served as missionaries at the Idaho Falls LDS Temple Visitor's Center for many years. They served a full-time mission at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City.
In their early married years, they loved to go square dancing. She taught cooking and sewing in the 4-H program.
She was a talented seamstress, sewing everything for her six daughters including everyday wear, wedding dresses and dance costumes. She did beautiful detailed handwork such as beadwork, crocheting, and hand-pieced quilts. She had a remarkable talent for math and numbers. Since she did not have the opportunity to learn to play piano herself, she was determined and successful in seeing all six of her daughters learn to play.
Our loving mother was such a wonderful example for each of us. We appreciate so very much her hard work, her determination, and her many hours of selfless service. We cherish the memories of our dear, sweet mother and will keep them in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her daughters: Marsha (David) Steed of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Lois (Michael) Chandler of Missoula, Montana, Lynae (Frank) Wozniak of Rochester, New York, Barbra (Wade) Bowman of Rexburg, Idaho, Gerri Lu (Lane) Bean of Teton, Idaho, Karla (Ken) Tuttle of Bountiful, Utah; 25 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Terry; a grandson; and 2 great-grandsons.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Alliance Hospice for the kindness and care they rendered.
