IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles 'Chuck'
William Dawley
April 13, 1940 – April 5, 2021
Chuck Dawley passed away at home on April 5, 2021, after a long illness. He was born April 13, 1940, in Rupert ID. His maternal grandparents were immigrants from Sweden and helped in creating the Minidoka Canal system. He lived a happy childhood on the family farm doing what farm boys do…working hard, attending school, and playing when there was time! After high school graduation, he attended ISU in Pocatello studying to be an airplane mechanic.
It was during this time that he dated Maryellen Walton. They married in 1960 and moved to Idaho Falls where he got a job at the airport. After a few short years and a few babies later, he wanted a better opportunity for his family and took a job at EBR-II (Argonne) around 1963. He spent the next 40 years working his way up the ladder to shift supervisor. His kids can remember each time he had his "quals" and had to study harder than they did! He had so many fond memories and stories of all the people he worked alongside, and after retirement, he still got together with many of them for their Friday breakfasts.
Golfing with his father-in-law Lee or the Argonne team was his favorite pastime in the 'old days, but he also enjoyed camping with family and friends or doing crazy home improvement projects with Lee. But his four kids know that his all-time favorite thing was constantly working on all the bicycles through every summer because something was always broken….seems like he was always saying, "AGAIN?"
He and Maryellen were married 33 years. After their divorce, he later met and married Sue Taylor. It was a few years later that he retired and they set off on their motor home adventures. They went to Arizona every winter and joined the local RV club for summer jaunts throughout the region. Sadly, she passed away from Alzheimer's in 2018.
Chuck is survived by his four children – Michelle (Andy) Drexler, Battle Ground WA; Monica (Mike) Cassidy, Stevensville MT; Marcy Dawley, Idaho Falls ID; Michael Dawley, Boise ID; Granddaughter Anisa Drexler, Brush Prairie WA; sister Juliene Kerbs, Rupert ID; and 2 nephews Steve and Doug Cole.
A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., May 15, 2021, at Crosspoint Church. Chuck always had a laugh for everyone and the family wants this memorial to be the same. Please come and share your fondest, funniest memory you had together with him.
