Obituary

Charlyn "Char" Hess-Garcia, 28, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah due to complications associated with a lifelong medical condition she fought all her life.

Char and her twin sister were born August 28, 1995, in Denver Colorado, to her birthmother Sara Beth Wickham and parents J. Richard Hess and Terri Lyn Grover Hess of Idaho Falls.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Char grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls including Falls Valley Elementary, Rocky Mountain Middle School, and finally Bonneville High School from which she graduated on June 3, 2014.

Char was very athletic.  She played basketball, volleyball, and soccer.  She played softball for many years, coached by her mother, and played softball for Bonneville High School.  Charlyn ballroom danced for Idaho Ballroom Academy and Bonneville High School.  She was also a cheerleader for Bonneville High School and Rocky Mountain Middle School.

On November 24, 2017, she married her husband, Alfredo Garcia.  They have four children, two boys and two girls: Anaiah, Remy, Kairo, and Kenzo.  Her family was the love of her life!

She is remembered for being caring, service-oriented, sassy, and spunky.  Charlyn worked primarily in the food service industry and is known by many in our Idaho Falls community as the smiling cheery person at the drive-through window.

She is survived by her four children: Anaiah (5), Remy (3), Kairo (2), and Kenzo (2 months).  Her husband:  Alfredo Garcia, Jr.   Mother and Father: Richard and Terri Hess.  Birthmother: Sara Wickham Campbell. Brother:  Devin Hess (Jordan), Sister:  Lauren Hess Musser (Johnny), Twin Sister:  Macey.  She has 3 nieces and 5 nephews.  Grandma Shirley Hess and Grandpa John Hess, Grandma Marvely Grover, and Grandpa Keith Grover.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 21, 2023, in the Sandcreek 2nd Ward Church, 2545 Mesa St., Idaho Falls. The family will meet with friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 20, 2023, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
