IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christina Youngstrom
Oswald
April 11, 1922 – September 17, 2021
Christina Youngstrom Oswald, 99, of Idaho Falls, reluctantly left her earthly family and worries behind Friday, September 17, 2021, and was reunited peacefully with her Father in Heaven and so many others that passed away before her.
Christina was born on April 11, 1922, in Menan, Idaho to Enoch and Jane Harget Johnston Youngstrom. When she was born she hemorrhaged and was not expected to live. They decided to give her horse plasma to see if that would help and thankfully it did work. She grew up in Menan and Lewisville areas. She graduated from Midway High School in 1940. She went to Clarks' Secretarial School where she learned shorthand, bookkeeping, and secretarial school.
On June 24, 1940, she married Bobbie LeRoy Oswald in the Salt Lake City Temple. To this union, 5 children were born. They were married for 54 years when Bobbie passed away on December 13, 1994. She later married Edwin Casper, who passed away on April 15, 2004.
She ran a nursery from her home on 10 th Street, was a bookkeeper for the old LDS Hospital in Idaho Falls, later for Madison Memorial in Rexburg, along with other businesses such as Livina's, Montgomery Ward, Boozers Oil & Gas, along with others.
Christina enjoyed square dancing with the Menan gang and was the last member to pass away. She was a foster parent, enjoyed sewing, but her most precious and enjoyable moments were those spent with her family camping, celebrating holidays, enjoying the weekend, playing games, and just being with those she loved. She was a confidant when you needed a shoulder to cry on, a lap to lay your sleepy head-on, or to lend a listening ear. She could keep track of anyone within her family, be it nieces, nephews, or cousins. She would keep in touch with each one. She will be missed by many!
She is survived by her children: Robert (Gena) Oswald of Lehi, Utah; Larry (KiAnna) Oswald of Twin Falls, Idaho; Danny (Yvette) Oswald of Preston, Idaho; Sherrill Christina (Delbert) Newman of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Gary (Hydie) Oswald of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 53 grandchildren, 95 great-grandchildren, and 62 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bobbie Oswald; all of her siblings: Minnie, Hyrum, William, Woodrow, and Jack; and one granddaughter, Kiki Adams.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Teton Post Acute for the help and wonderful care they gave in the last few months of Christina's life.
