January 9, 1917 – September 4, 2006
He was born September 1, 1917, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clarence James Dallimore and Minnie Mamie Hansen Dallimore. He grew up and attended school in Salt Lake City. In 1936, he graduated from South High School. He was in the R.O.T.C. in both high school and college. He served in the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University in Botany and Plant Pathology. He received a Master of Science degree from the University of Nebraska in plant pathology. He did Graduate Studies for a Ph Degree at the University of Nebraska and Oregon State University
On July 9, 1940, he married Ruth Allred in the Logan LDS Temple. She passed away Feb. 6, 2003. They lived in Aberdeen, Idaho for 26 years where he worked for the University of Idaho as a plant pathologist dealing with potatoes and helping farmers with potato diseases. They moved to Idaho Falls as the area potato specialist and as a county agent for Jefferson County.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a Cub and Scout Master, Sunday School teacher, High Priest Group Leader, High Councilman, Sunday School President, genealogy instructor, and a temple officiator.
He served as Vice-President and President of the Aberdeen PTO, Vice President of the 5th District PTA, and Chairman of the Aberdeen Cub Scout Pack Committee.
He enjoyed photography, gardening, genealogy, and he loved music.
He was a very devoted father to his family and to his religion. He always went the extra mile on all of his assignments.
He is survived by the following: 2 daughters, Arlene (Michael) Petersen of Providence, UT, and Lora Jean (Wayne) Hansen of Ammon, ID; 2 sons, Dean Kenton (Rulene) Dallimore of Rigby, ID, and Kelvin J. (Vivian) Dallimore of Idaho Falls; 3 sisters, Thais (Bill) Zitting of Salt Lake City, UT, Diane (Burr) Clayton of Salt Lake City, and Beverly (Kay) Ruggles of Salt Lake City; two brothers, Keith (Kathryn) Dallimore of Salt Lake City, and Jack (Val) Dallimore also of Salt Lake City; 19 Grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruth Dallimore; 2 grandsons, Merlin Eugene Dallimore and Richard Wayne Hansen; and a brother, Leon Dallimore.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, 2006, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls with Bishop Kerry Cooper officiating. The family will visit with friends on Friday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans' Team. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.coltrinmortuary.com .
