Clayton Roy Steen Jr., 72, passed away December 29, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Ida. Roy was a brilliant man who always lived life to the fullest in his own way. Roy was born September 6, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Clayton Roy Steen Sr. and Marjorie Lawson. Roy served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard in Vietnam. He was married to Roseann Clark on April 16, 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They later divorced. Roy learned the machinist trade from his uncle in Southern California. He then moved to Idaho Falls and started Steen & Sons Machine Shop in 1975. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was an avid hunter. He built race cars with Race Car Specialties. Later, he built cars with his sons and grandsons including a land speed racing car. He is survived by a daughter Wendy Moon (Ryan) of Stevensville, Mont., a daughter Julie DeGarlais of Idaho Falls, a son Clayton Steen (Shauna Stanger) of Idaho Falls, a son Joshua Steen of Idaho Falls, and a sister Kathy Lutes of Olathe, Kansas, and his ten grandchildren. Roy is preceded in death by his father Clayton Roy Steen Sr, mother Marjorie Cantrill (step-father Everett "Major" Cantrill), brother Norman Steen, sister Lois Wall, and two granddaughters Ambree DeGarlais and Kirsten DeGarlais. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2013, and one hour prior to the services, both at Coltrin Mortuary. Interment will be at Ammon Cemetery.
