Colleen Drake Hillman, 76, of Ammon, formerly of St. Anthony, died unexpectedly at her home Monday, October 17, 2005.
She was born August 3, 1929, in Driggs, Idaho to Asa M. B. Drake and Gretude O. Ripplinger Drake. She grew up on the family farm in Cedron, a small community outside of Victor. In 1947, she graduated from Teton High School in Driggs.
On June 8, 1948, she married Russell Gheen Hillman in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Salmon for fifteen years, St. Anthony for thirty-three years, and five years ago they moved to Idaho Falls. While living in St. Anthony, she worked for Block's Fine Clothing Store for seventeen years.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held positions in the Relief Society, as a Primary teacher, and with her husband, she filled a temple assignment for 6 months and also as a stake missionary for 6 months.
While living in Salmon, she was President of the Jayceettes in 1962-63 and in 1966, she received the "Woman of the Year" award. She was involved in 4-H as a leader and was a judge at many fairs. In Fremont County, she worked on the Election Board.
She enjoyed playing the piano, sewing, doing genealogy, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Colleen loved serving others, if only to fold the clothes or do the dishes.
She is survived by the following: husband, Russell G. Hillman of Ammon daughter, Marlys Later of Salt Lake City son, Roger G. (Terrilinn) Hillman of Rexburg daughter, Shauna (Jim) Hillman-Lieshner of Silverton, ID daughter, Rochelle (Charles) Minor of Pocatello 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren mother, Gretude Drake of Rexburg sister, Louise (Kay) Larson of Rexburg brother, Asa J. (JoAnn) Drake of Idaho Falls sister, Sandra (Jay) Fluckiger of Rexburg brother, Garl (Jill) Drake of Victor sister, DeAnn (Lee) Burgon of St. George
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at the Ammon 18th LDS Ward Chapel, 4459 John Adams Parkway, just off 45th East between First St. and 17th St., with Bishop Scott Bruce officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening Oct. 20, 2005, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls and on Friday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at 4:00 p.m. in the Darby Cemetery on Friday.
