Connie was born on August 4, 1957, to George Henry and Deloris Murphy Champ in Norfolk, Virginia. She grew up in Virginia.

She had a strong love for God and always had faith that all would be right. She was a great listener, problem solver, giver, and nurturer. She had great compassion also for animals and her heart belonged so dearly to her dog 'Little Bit the Great' who was always by her side.
