Obituary

Connie Rae Hillman Hay, 59, loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Connie was born Nov. 21, 1953, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the fourth of five children born to Joseph Rex and Guila Marie Hillman. As a child, Connie loved riding bikes, playing in the tree house, and reading books. Connie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her church service included callings in the Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society presidencies. She also served as a primary chorister and spent many years serving as a primary teacher. She was currently serving as a ward librarian. She attended Bell Aire Elementary, Clair E Gale Jr. High, and Idaho Falls High School. She was an outstanding student and involved in numerous activities such as choir, Pep Club, and the yearbook editor. At age 16, she started dating Steve Hay, the man who would become the love of her life. After graduating from high school she attended Ricks College and earned an associate degree in textiles and clothing. She was a Spori Scholar with a 4.0 GPA. On July 3, 1975, she married Steven Douglas Hay in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together they celebrated 37 years of marriage. During the first year of their marriage, Connie worked at Top Fabric and Maternity Boutique. Thirteen months later, she gave birth to their first son, Steven Jeremy. Two years later, she welcomed Cami, their second child, into the family. Connie and Steve lived in various parts of southeastern Idaho and Utah while Steve completed his education. During these years, Connie worked as an ophthalmologic technician and at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in the dietetic department. Steve and Connie moved into their current home in 1985. In 1989, Connie gave birth to her youngest child, Spencer Douglas. She completed her Bachelor of General Studies degree from BYU-Idaho in 2004. Together with Steve, she raised three wonderful children who love her dearly. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest sister, Sharon Louise Hillman. She is survived by her sisters: Becky (Clyde) Parker, Brenda (Rodney) Allen; a brother, Larry Rex Hillman; husband, Steven Douglas Hay; children: Steven Jeremy (Brittany) Hay, Cami (Kris) Boyle, and Spencer Douglas Hay; six beautiful grandchildren: Sydney Bre Hay, Audrey Lilyan Hay, Abby Michelle Hay, Lily Ann Hay (Jeremy), Jordan Kristoffer Boyle, and Joseph Ephraim Boyle (Cami). Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, March 29, 2013 at the LDS Church, 1165 Azaela Dr. with Bishop Walhquist officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, from 6-8 pm at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls, ID. The family will meet friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls.
