Constance Dee Whitehead Kane dies Connie was born in 1931 in Brookings, South Dakota to Paul Aubrey Whitehead-Iowa and Neala Esma Holbrook Whitehead-Nebraska. Her parents were school teachers. A small child with good vocabulary and diction, Connie would delight her parents and neighbors at her performances. She at four year old had a terrier that would stand on its back feet allowing her to hold its front paws while she recited poetry. She grew up in Nebraska and Kansas. She had one younger brother, Bud, whom she loved and was always so proud of for his goodness, honor, and military service. Graduating from Emporia High School. She married another serviceman, James Kane in Wichita, Kansas in 1951. They had two children, Kathi and James when the LDS missionaries found and taught them the about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They were baptized and joined the church in 1958. Just weeks after the birth of their third child in 1960 they drove from Kansas to Salt Lake City, Utah to be sealed as a family in the temple. We like to say that our parents "crossed the plains" in a black Cadillac. A missionary couple serving in Kansas were their friends and had returned home to Idaho and invited them to visit. Jim loved the mountains and found employment at the nuclear site near Idaho Falls. They moved there in 1963. Another child, Kristi, was born giving them four all together. Connie and Jim raised their family in Idaho Falls. They loved camping. AT church she served in Relief Society presidencies and as a visiting teacher and vt co ordinator, the magazine chairman, primary teacher and as YW camp director. When the church said that more nurses were needed Connie went right to school and completed her degree in registered nursing at Ricks College in 1972. She worked at the Idaho Falls hospital in labor and delivery and then in Diabetes Education until she retired in 1992(?). She and her husband enjoyed retirement as snowbirds in Surprise, Arizona and Sun City, Arizona. Connie enjoyed swimming pool exercising. They have 20 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren! She has helped care for her son and her husband as they battled all stages of cancer. After they passed away she helped look after her mom until Grandma Neala passed away at 97 years old! She enjoyed visits from her children and cousins and friends. In 2007 Connie sold both places and moved to Boise to be near her daughter Kandi and grandchildren. She loved to invent new crockpot meals and cookie recipes. Her grandkids loved that she always had treats at her house. She was happy watching her grandkids in dance and sports and other programs. She loved making greeting cards on her computer, buying books at Deseret Book, going out to eat, going to church and was a regular temple attendee. She worked on her geneology and served in her Kimball Ward in Boise as the chapel greeter. She enjoyed handing out programs and hugs before sacrament meetings. In April 2011 she moved again to The Cottages in Meridian. She made fast friends where ever she went with her sweet disposition.
