Obituary

On January 20th, 2026 a Tuesday Clarice “Coy” Lowrie Peterson Golden, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother went to be with the Lord at the age of ninety-one. She was born November 3, 1934 to Chester “Chet” S. and Bertha “Bert” A. Deno Lowrie in Pocatello, ID.

The family moved around due to her dad’s work. Bremerton, Hanford, and Coeur d’Alene were some of the places she attended school. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School and attended ISU with thoughts of becoming a pharmacist. Those plans changed when she fell in love with Richard “Rick” Peterson.

With the Korean War in the wings, they married in 1954 and she became a farmer’s wife. She worked side by side with him to operate the farm south of Idaho Falls until his passing in 1983. Their son Eric then became her partner in the operation.

Later, Coy met a widower with two teenagers. She married Ralph W. Golden in 1987 at the First Lutheran Church and enlarged her family. She and Ralph also attended were members of Calvary Baptist Church.

Coy loved animals, especially sheep and horses. She was named as part of the War Bonnet Roundup royalty as a young woman. Coy spent many hours bottle feeding and taking care of her beloved bum lambs. She was an avid quilter, making beautiful works of art for family, friends and new babies. Coy was a passionate reader and could often be found with a book in hand. She also enjoyed gardening. She was a member of the Cattleman’s Assoc. where she served as secretary and treasurer, along with serving in leadership at the Bonneville Woolgrowers association, and Farm Bureau Director of ‘Make It Yourself with Wool’ Contest, she was on the Bonneville country 4H board, and was a Gideon's Auxiliary member. Coy was named Farm wife of the year and received a Silver Plow Award.

She is survived by her husband Ralph Golden, children: Linda (Scott) Carpenter, Kathleen “Kathy” (Michael “Mike”) Miller, Steven (Debra “Debby”) Peterson and Eric (Pamela) Peterson, step children: Gloria (Mike) Burrell and Jeff (Halo) Golden, sisters: Sharon Lowrie and Karel Metcalf, 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 6 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Rick, infant son Gregory and her sister Dale Lords.

A celebration of Coy’s Life and Faith will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday February 7th, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church 785 First St. Idaho Falls. Cremation is under the care of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls. Condolences may be sent online at www.coltrinmortuary.com
