August 2, 1922 – November 13, 2007
He was born August 2, 1922, in Roberts, Idaho, to Robert William and Hattie Mae Hooper. He attended school in Swan Valley, and continued his education while serving in th U.S. Army. He served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II, working mostly in communications.
On May 26, 1948, he married Jennett Murdoch in Thornton. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls L.D.S. Temple on March 4, 1952. Together they raised two sons. They were able to celebrate 55 wonderful years together.
He worked as a maintenance foreman for Roger Brothers in Idaho Falls. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, beekeeping and especially being with family. He was a devoted husband, father and loving grandfather.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various callings, as a home teacher, scoutmaster, Sunday School President, a counselor in the bishopric and as a High Priest Group Leader.
He is survived by the following: son, Lloyd Hooper of Idaho Falls; son, Bruce (Marjorie) Hooper of Rigby; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Bocksnick of Ronan, Montana; brother, Marvin Hooper of Idaho Falls.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and three brothers, Justin, Arlo and Virgil Hooper.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2007, at the Idaho Falls North Stake Center, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Todd T. Johnson officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7-8 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2007, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street in Idaho Falls, and one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at the Sutton Cemetery in Archer, Idaho.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to the nursing staff at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, especially those on the fifth floor.
