Cynthia Ann Finlayson Branter, 75, of Idaho Falls, passed away on October 19, 2023, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital.
Cynthia was born on April 1, 1948, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Frank E. Finlayson and Mary Alice Thebo Finlayson. She grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1967.
On May 27, 1965, she married her sweetheart, Melvin Keith Branter, in Blackfoot, Idaho. They lived in Pocatello and Idaho Falls. To this union, two boys were born: Curtis and Callin.
She was a member of the Catholic church. She loved snowmobiling. She was a past president of the Idaho State Snowmobile Association and in the 2011 Idaho State Snowmobile Association Hall of Fame. She served as secretary-treasurer for the International Snowmobile Association. She made incredible stained-glass lamps and decorations and was an extraordinary seamstress. Many of her quilts and sewing projects won blue ribbons at the Eastern Idaho State Fair.
Her family said she was the matriarch of the family and their beacon of light.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Branter; her sons: Curtis (Mary Anne) Branter and Callin (Annette) Branter all of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and her 4 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
