Dana Pettingill, 54, of Idaho Falls, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012. He was born January 31, 1958, in Mountain Home, Idaho, to Theo Larry and Delta Simmons Pettingill. He grew up in Mountain Home and graduated from Mountain Home High School. He married Becky Joseph on May 24, 1992, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Knowing he wanted to spend his life in the business community, he attended business school in Ogden, Utah, and upon graduation began his lifelong career in the professional sales field. Dana worked in a number of sales positions and industries, centered around his new home in Phoenix, Arizona. His endeavors included sales, management and supervisory positions in the field of jewelry, beauty products, insurance, mortgage, and automotive. Always eager to be the best, Dana was awarded honors in every field he served, including "Rookie of the Year" as an agent with New York Life. Never satisfied with just his business education, he enrolled at Arizona State University in 1993. He achieved a B.S. degree in Psychology, graduating with honors in 1997. His unique sales ability, dedication to his craft and service to his employers and clients will be greatly missed. Dana was the ultimate Rolling Stones fan! He also enjoyed growing and maintaining a beautiful rose garden, watching football, a good game of backgammon, golfing, political debating, and watching the amazing Arizona sunsets. In the words of Kris Kristofferson's song, "He's a Pilgrim", we say of Dana: "He's a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction, taking every wrong direction on his lonely way back home." Dana, we hope you're home. His is survived by the following: Mother, Delta Pettingill of Idaho Falls; Brother, Eric (Veronica) Pettingill, of Chandler, Arizona; Sister, Julie (Mike) Buzska, of Blackfoot; Sister, Laurie Baldwin of Idaho Falls; He is preceded in death by his father, Theo Pettingill. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First Street, Idaho Falls, with Bishop Wesley Frey officiating. The family will visit with friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Annis Little Butte Cemetery.
