Obituary

Danny Dan' Ernest Carlson passed away peacefully in his home on February 25, 2010. He was born on August 21, 1952 in Oregon. At 3 years of age Dan was adopted along with his older sister Shirley by Ernest A Carlson and Iris Lapreal Riggs Carlson. He attended numerous schools and graduated from Sugar Salem High School in Sugar City, Id. Right out of high school he joined the Army being stationed in Washington and Germany. He came back to Eastern Idaho after 2 years where he met his wife of 38 years, Rachel Iris Colby. They married in Idaho Falls on Dec 4 of 1971. They had twin girls Dannette and Danise followed shortly by sons Steven and David. They moved frequently for 10 years before settling back home in Idaho Falls. In his pastime he enjoyed fishing with his children and grandchildren. He was a huge fan of Classic rock and always had it playing. He enjoyed working with and helping people as a longtime nurse in retirement communities. Dan is preceded in death by his parents and three infant grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, 4 children and 22 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 and one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. He will be laid to rest near his grandchildren in a private ceremony attended by friends and family at Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls where military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
