Obituary

Darleene Cordon Egbert, 93, of Idaho Falls, passed away on February 11, 2023, at Idaho Falls Community Hospital. She was under the care of Aspen Hospice.

Darleene was born on May 16, 1929, in Driggs, Idaho to Charles A Cordon and Ada Bell Moffat Cordon. She attended Teton High School in Driggs, Idaho. She was a hard worker, starting her first job at 14 as a soda jerk and movie theater attendant. She was active in many school activities such as playing the saxophone in the pep band and orchestra, singing in choirs, performing in musicals, and going to almost every dance with her high school sweetheart, Irwin F. Egbert.

After high school, she and Irwin became engaged and married in 1949 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They lived in Driggs for a short period and spent the rest of their lives in Idaho Falls, except for a decade spent as snowbirds in St. George, Utah.

Darleene was a wonderful homemaker and went back to work when her boys were teenagers, first as a bank clerk and then 22 years working with 1 st and 2 nd graders as a reading tutor for School District 91 at Bush Elementary.

She loved to dance, play the piano, read, walk at the mall, and spend time with her family. She was known for pulling up a chair in her kitchen and being so interested in all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren's lives.

She is survived by her sons: Bradford C. Egbert and Brent (Kelli) Egbert; grandchildren: Allison Egbert, Megan (Claudy) Lavin, and Molly (Travis) Baltes; and great-grandchildren: Carter Lavin, Calvin Lavin, Kennedy Lavin, and Khloe Lavin.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Charles and Ada Cordon; her brothers: Forest Cordon and Logan Cordon; her sister, Bonnie Moss; her spouse, Irwin Egbert; and two grandsons: Travis Egbert and Tyson Egbert.

She was a fiercely loyal and protective mother and grandmother that was so loving and wonderful, she will be greatly missed.
