He was born April 7, 1953, in Burley, Idaho, to Melvin Darriel Hanks and Claudia Biggs Hanks. He grew up in Burley and graduated in 1971 from Burley High School. He attended Ricks College and BYU.
On April 30, 1977, he married Rhonda Renea Goff in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized June 15, 1979, in the Washington D.C. LDS Temple. He worked in retail management in Chicago, Illinois, for 5 years; Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, for 24 years; and in Idaho Falls the last 2 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in several positions including the Bishopric in the Ft. Lauderdale Ward. He served a church mission from 1974-1976 in the Washington D.C. Mission.
He enjoyed reading but he was especially an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, geology, and just being in the outdoors enjoying this beautiful world.
Tim was a loving, hard working, dedicated husband, father, and son; he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by the following: wife, Rhonda Renea Hanks of Idaho Falls;daughter, Carissa R. (David) Kearley of Orlando, Florida; son, Jarrin Darrell Hanks of Idaho Falls;parents, Melvin Darriel and Claudia Hanks of Burley;sister, Susan (Rod) Richardson of American Fork, Utah; niece and nephew, Chelsey and Cole Richardson of American Fork, Utah; and father and mother-in-law, Gerald and Patty Goff of Sunrise, Florida.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the Idaho Falls LDS 4th Ward Chapel, 955 Memorial Drive in Idaho Falls with Bishop Kevin Hathaway officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. October 17, 2008, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. Idaho Falls, and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Burley, Idaho at Gem Memorial Gardens at 4:00 p.m..
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers to the Darriel Tim Hanks Memorial Fund, 520 Highland Dr., Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402.
